Arnhem does not have an airport. There are several airports nearby;
• Amsterdam – It’s only an hour and 30 minutes on the train and costs about £25
• Weeze – There are buses going from Weeze Airport directly to Nijmegen Central station (costs about € 18.00), but you need to make a reservation for it, and keep in mind that Nimwegen in German is actually Nijmegen!

The average journey time between London and Arnhem is 7 hours and 32 minutes and the fastest journey time is 5 hours and 37 minutes. On an average weekday, there are 12 trains per day travelling from London to Arnhem.
There are fast train links from Amsterdam, Nijmegen, Den Bosch, Zwolle, Tilburg and Roosendaal. There is also a fast train from, Frankfurt and Cologne in Germany

Eurolines provide coaches to Amsterdam from London. They offer an overnight service leaving London around 19.00 and arriving at around 6:00 the next day. They also offer a service leaving at 6:00 and arriving in Amsterdam at 20:15 and another leaving at 10:00 which arrives at 21:45 Tickets start at around £52 each way
From Amsterdam coaches don’t seem easily available so may be best to get the train.

It takes between 3 and 4 hours to drive to Arnhem from Calais. Book tickets via DFDS Seaways.
Football Trip to Arnhem – Travel Around Arnhem
If you are traveling around Arnhem, the local trolley buses and very good and are linked up well, so that you can easily get to your destination. The bus station is conveniently located next to the train station in the town center. Here you can look up the timetables of the buses and buy your tickets in the form of the chip card, which is the cheapest way to pay. A bicycle is an ideal way to get around town, and you can hire them, also by the train station, although a 25 Euro deposit is required.

Around one million people pass the gates of GelreDome every year. The largest theatre in the Netherlands and football stadium is home to more than sixty large-scale events each year. The maximum capacity of the complex is 34,000 persons. In football matches this is 25,000.
At the opening on March 25, 1998, the Arnhem GelreDome is the world’s first multifunctional event accommodation, which features an expandable soccer field.
GelreDome has a movable grass mat. With one press of the button, the concrete tray, in which the mat is located, is pushed out of the Theo Forest stand. GelreDome had the same grass meal for fourteen years. At the end of the season 2011 | 2012, the grass mat was replaced for the first time. Usually the mat is outside, south and wind: the ideal conditions for grass.

The GelreDome is located south of Arnhem City Centre about 2.5 kilometres from Arnhem’s city centre and the central rail station.
If using public transport, take bus 7 from Arnhem central rail station. The bus leaves about every 10 minutes for the 7-minute ride to the stadium. Take the bus in the direction of Rijkerswoerd. Get off at stop GelreDome.

When planning a football trip to Arnhem it is always good to know what else there is to see and do in the city. Here are a selection of the best things which I found using our sponsor Lonely Planet. Arnhem is probably best known For the battle conducted here in 1944 and immortalised in the film, “A Bridge Too Far”. But Arnhem to today is a peaceful, medium sized city that sits on the banks of the Rhine and is the capital of the Gelderland Province.
Arnhem Wine Museum – How is wine produced? In the cellars of one of Holland’s oldest wine houses, you will learn all about the production process and different flavors of wine. Naturally you can enjoy a glass of wine, too.
Gelredome Tour – The tour takes approximately 90 minutes. The maximum number of participants is 15 and the minimum 6. Please assemble from 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time of the tour at the main entrance of the stadium. All ages (from 6 years) pay only € 6 per person (instead of € 8.95)
Airborne museum – the Battle of Arnhem had such a profound effect on World War II. In this gorgeous villa, you’ll experience the battle in a highly lifelike way. The museum shows a large collection authentic weaponry, documents, films and pictures. In the Airborne Experience, covering 900 square metres, for which the museum received several awards, you find yourself in the middle of the battle. It is a truly gripping experience where the war comes very close.

Slijterij van Pernis ( Prinsessestraat 34) – Absolutely the best place in Arnhem to find craft beer, with an insanely large and relevant selection, from Dutch and Belgian craft breweries to more exotic ones like Estonia and the US
Barleys (Pauwstraat 4) – A great selection of beers is served here, and good pub food. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.
‘t Taphuys Arnhem (Jansplein 56) – They have a selection of 100 beers and 80 wines that you can tap yourself
Café De Beugel (Duizelsteeg 20) – Great selection of beer in all styles, from very accessible and lighter beers to heavy adjunct stouts.
Oersoep (Waalbandijk 14D) – a small Dutch craft-brewery

Mo Lon (Kortestraat 25) – Worth hunting this cafe down. Fantastic sandwiches (highly recommend the Club) all prepared freshly to order.
Frites Atelier (Vijzelstraat 16) – One of the best chips shops. The potatoes are served in a luxurious package and all meals are very delicious.

CASPAR – (Elly Lamakerplantsoen 2) – Hip brasserie. Simple menu but they prepare everything on it really well.
‘t Pannekoekhuis Schaarsbergen (Kemperbergerweg 673) – This traditional Dutch pancake house has a large menu of all kind of different type pancakes.
